


2D Animator

Contract: 4-month Internship
Location: Richmond, B.C., Canada

Eligibility

You are enrolled at a university or education provider with a planned internship period within your studies.

You are eligible to work in Canada without an additional visa or relocation support.
Responsibility

2D Animator Intern Responsibilities
-
You will create 2D animation assets that follow project style, character models, and animation guidelines
-
You will animate characters, props, and effects based on storyboards, animatics, or direction
-
You will collaborate with designers, storyboard artists, and production teams to support animation goals
-
You will revise and refine animation work based on feedback and creative direction
-
You will ensure consistency in motion, timing, and visual quality
-
You will assist with preparing animation files and assets for production or integration
-
You will maintain organized project files, naming conventions, and documentation
-
You will participate in reviews, playtests, and brainstorming sessions to improve animation quality
Qualifications

Basic understanding of animation principles (timing, spacing, squash and stretch, anticipation, etc.)

Fundamental drawing and motion storytelling skills
-
Familiarity with 2D animation software (e.g., Toon Boom Harmony, After Effects, TVPaint, or CSp)
-
Ability to follow character models, style guides, and animation direction
-
Willingness to accept feedback and revise animations accordingly

Strong attention to detail, timing, and movement consistency

Basic understanding of frame-by-frame or rig-based animation workflows

Good time management and organizational skills

Ability to collaborate and communicate with team members

Portfolio demonstrating animation exercises, character animation, or motion samples
